Rainforest tour pictures

DescriptionTour Est. 2006

Our leisure version of El Yunque rainforest tour is geared to the less inclined hiker and would enjoy having a picnic next to a stream.

You will walk for 40 minutes on an easy trail. A tourist guide will provide information about the flora and fauna of the forest on board the bus and along the trail. There will be plenty opportunities to take pictures.

A stop at a deli will be made to buy a sandwich and beverage, so you can have a picnic at the Palo Colorado picnic area. Pictures of one the Puerto Rican pastry we enjoy during this tour.

Due to its minimal length, easy access and comfortable picnic area, the trails are very popular with both locals and visitors.

The Trails

Baño de Oro Trail
The Baño de Oro Trail is one of El Yunque rainforest best kept secret.  You will have so much fun stream crossing and enjoying listening to the water run when walking on a riverside trail.  Your guide will make you aware of the hidden beauty under the tropical canopy.  Photographers will have fun taking pictures of the flora and fauna.

Easy walking trail rainforest Puerto RicoGeared more for the less inclined hiker, this is a walking tour that loops with the Caimitillo Trail and Palo Colorado picnic sheltlers.  It is a fairly short 0.3 miles (0.6 km) trail, which rises from 2,132 feet (650 meters) to 2,362 feet (720 meters).  Hiking time is approximately 25 minutes to the junction to the upper part of the Caimitillo Trail.

Caimitillo Trail
We continue our light walk on the Caimitillo Trail
which is a short 0.2 miles (0.6 km) interpretive trail rising from 2,067 feet (630 meters) to 2,427 feet (740 meters). Hiking time is approximately 15 to 20 minutes, one-way on this second trail. The Caimitillo trail is rated as moderate to easy, and has an asphalt-paved or graveled surface.  See the video

The trail ends at the Baño Grande Pool built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s. A walk around the path encompassing this tranquil pool, which briefly captures the waters of the La Mina river before it rushes on down through the forest, affords the hiker a chance to view interpretive signs which identify some of the most prevalent trees in the YNF, growing around the pool.

CUSTOMER's REVIEW

Review: Jaime was very laid back and a lot of fun on our tour. He was very knowledgeable of the rain forest and the surrounding area. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone on the trip was having a great time and that all our needs were met. He is an asset to the company! Krista Greenleaf, Maine, Holiday Inn - June 20, 2008 - Jaime, tour guide

Review: I enjoyed it a lot, and Debbie went the extra mile by letting us listen to Puerto Rican music and talking to us about the culture along the way. Margaret Robbins, GA, hotel June 9, 2007

Review:  The tour guide and driver meet us on time at the University.  The guide was dressed with a neat and clean uniform.  We were attended by courteous and cheerful tour guide and driver.  Debbie provided enough information and answered our questions to our satisfaction.  She also took the extra step to satisfy our needs and showed us the rest stops. The walking and bus tour were entertaining and we enjoyed the trail taken on the tour.  The driver were courteous and operated the bus with caution. The the bus ride was comfortable, clean, and we could clearly hear the music over the speakers.  Her voice was usually fine, but sometimes, because the mouthpiece was so close to her mouth, the words were muffled--difficult to hear. Otherwise, and more often than not, it was fine.  The tour ended at the university and on time. Everything was great!  Jim Elledge, GA University Group June 9, 2007

Review:  Very comfortable transportation. Tour was perfect. We really enjoyed it! Debbie did a great job.  Jackie Kim, PA, Ritz Carlton April 19, 2007

Review:  We loved our tour with Debbie and would ask for her again if/when we come back. She was very knowledgeable and took lots of pictures of us which came out great!!! Thank you.  Hal and Debbie Moorefield, Hotel El Convento Feb 10, 2007

Review:  My children and grandchildren loved the tour of the Rainforest--they had a great day. Debbie was informative and entertaining and very helpful and cooperative in spite of tired children ( and one that got sick in the car). I have highly recommended your company to our travel agent for any future clients in Puerto Rico. Thank you. YADELLE SKLARE, Chicago - Adventures of the Seas, December 31, 2006
