Upon arrival to a party everyone ask for the coquito.  Puerto Rico's punch is the gift to take to the work place for the Christmas party.  Many stores sell nicely design bottles for the coquito, so it be handed out as a gift.

The coquito recipe on the right is the one I serve at the Spirits of Puerto Rico tour.

You can serve the coquito in any type of glass.  Remember to not drink and drive.  Pregnant women should not consume alcohol.

My sincere thank you for those that allow me to be there tour guide during the Spirits of Puerto Rico, Thanksgiving Puerto Rican Style and Puerto Rican style Christmas tours.  My coquito recipe will awaken good memories from your vacation in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Christmas Season in Puerto Rico ends on January 30th, so if you are a bartender or like to organize parties...consider serving Coquito - Puerto Rico's Christmas punch.

¡Salud!

Authentic foods prepared for hundreds of years by local families are served at our following food tours...

Celebrate with friends and family

Puerto Rican dinner with rum tasting

Ingredients:

11/2 cups Goya Coconut milk
(a can 13.5 FL oz)

2/3 cup Condensed milk

3/4 cup Carnation evaporated milk
(a can of 5 oz)

1 tb + 1 tsp Vanilla

3 tsp Cinnamon powder

8oz  Palo Viejo or Bacardi Cristal

You can prepare the coquito with or without rum.  Another option is adding egg yolk. Must beat the yolk

How to...

Mix the ingredients in a blender at a high speed.

Tip: Make sure the blender is covered; otherwise, it will snow in your kitchen or bar.

My recipe is for the size of a bottle of Bacardi rum.

Quickly place the bottle with coquito in the refrigerator.  It will take an hour to chill, depending on the refrigerator.

Tip: Do not freeze it!  It will turn into sticky slush.  Bartenders carefully choose the refrigerator...it is not a beer.

Shake the bottle very well prior to serving in a chill glass.

Tip:  Sip it and move inside your mouth before swallowing.
