Piñones Mangrove Forest - "The forest by the beach."

• The Piñones Mangrove Forest tour is an easy walk inside one of Mother Nature's oxygen producer.

Brief Tour Description:

A licensed tourist guide by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company with a certified driver will pick up the group in a 12-passengers air-conditioned van at the airport, San Juan's pier, Condado or Isla Verde hotel area.  The tour commences when departing from the meeting location. A knowledgeable guide fluent in English will provide general information about Puerto Rico and the forest.

Our walking tour begins at a boardwalk that will lead you into the largest mangrove forest in Puerto Rico.  This trail is rated as very easy in difficulty.  You will be inside one of Mother Nature's oxygen producers.  Surrounded by the "guardians of the coastal terrain and coral reefs" you will relax when listening to birds singing and hear the sounds of the trade winds blowing through the branches.

• 'Mangrove forests' grow in the calm waters at the edge of the land and sea where the conditions are saline. They protect and form coastal terrain, remove dust and absorb carbon dioxide. They are the fish nurseries of the Caribbean. 

This forest is 70% mangrove and 30% lagoons.

• Puerto Rico have 4 of 10 mangrove species that are developed in the Atlantic Coast of the New World.

This tour is ideal for travelers that...

1.  Enjoys walking.
2.  Wishes to savour the ambiance and explore a coastal forest nearby beach.
3.  Does not have the stamina or time to kayak into the tunnels and channels of the mangroves.
4.  Looks for a low impact nature adventure tour for family reunions, prior or after conventions and pre or post cruise ship traveling dates
5.  Have visited El Yunque, rainforest and Old San Juan.
6.  Airport passengers that have 5 to 6-hours in between flights and have visited the El Yunque, rainforest
7.  Cruise ship passengers with flights departing at or after 7:00 p.m. and have visited El Yunque, rainforest.

Tour ends at the hotel where the group was picked up, airport or docks.

Tour does not operate on January 1, Good Friday - March 25, July 4, September 15,Thanksgiving Day (USA), December 25 and 31st.

Group size:  A maximum of 10 passengers

Includes:

• Meet and greet at airport or piers in San Juan.  Luggage storage and handling.
• Transportation with a 14-passengers air-conditioned van with a certified driver from airport, San Juan's pier, Condado and Isla Verde hotels.
• Licensed tour guide by the PRTC Company.
• Tourist guide certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid, Adult, Infant and Child CPR
• Two bottles of water per person.
• A One and a half-hour Puerto Rican lunch at a restaurant with a beachfront. Menu for children available. Client decides what to eat and pays what they consume.
• Those interested may walk on the beach during this time.

Note:

1.  Have a well-balanced breakfast.
2.  All children must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older.
3.  Wear comfortable shoes.  No sandals.
