Legends of San Juan Tour

My husband and I went on the morning Old San Juan 2 hour walking tour while in Puerto Rico before a cruise. We were blessed enough to have Debbie as our guide who was absolutely amazing!!! Her knowledge is expansive and customer service is great! The walking is so easy and you make so many stops at great places, you don't even realize it before the 2 hours has past. Debbie took us to the best locations and finished our tour at the Fort which is ideal to explore on your own. In fact, Debbie was kind enough to tell us about a reenactment of 1787 battle going on the afternoon of our tour (only done once a year) and so she invited us to eat lunch with her and visit fort if we wanted. We ate at a cute little place by our hotel and fort (Hotel El Convento - highly recommend as well as the Royal Caribbean cruise we went on, AMAZING!!!!) and then visited the reenactment and wandered the grounds on our own - incredible place! There were only 4 in our tour so lots of personalized attention. I opted for this tour over the Segway due to the amazing reviews and we love doing walking tours in great historic cities. Plus it's nice to get info. along the way vs. just while stopping on a Segway. Lastly, the correspondence while booking was fast and easy. Cannot recommend this tour enough!! Wish we would have been in Puerto Rico longer to take one of their evening tours.

“Unique walking tour of Old San Juan”

Night Tales in Old San Juan

Debbie led us on an entertaining and informative walking tour through Old San Juan on our first evening in Puerto Rico. We were 2 of only 5 on the tour, so everyone was able to get Debbie's attention with their questions. The tour was in the context of what sailors might have seen a few hundred years ago as they stepped off the ship. We were able to enter a few buildings and spaces that aren't open to the public, so that's one reason to think about this tour. Debbie has an amazing voice - she sang us "En mi Viejo San Juan" in Spanish at one of the stops, which was a real treat.

As we were coming through one of the oldest neighborhoods and up towards El Convento, Debbie mentioned that another group had just recently told her about a couple of apartments available for short-term rentals in the $150/night range. We were still looking for a place for our final night in Puerto Rico and asked if she could pass the information on to us. The next morning Debbie had e-mailed us the link to one of those apartments and we were able to book our final night in an absolutely amazing location.

The walking as never strenuous with only a couple of short, steep uphills, and Debbie gave us ample opportunity to stop and sit, so as long as you have some comfortable shoes you should be fine for the ~2 hour tour. Debbie answered all of our questions - including tips on where to eat and what not to miss. When we bumped into her at a restaurant on our last evening in PR, she remebered our names and took time to ask us how our wedding and the rest of our time in PR turned out. Thank you, Debbie!

We highly recommend this tour - especially if you only have 1-2 nights, or if you want an overview before jumping in and exploring on your own.

"Good Food, Good Times, Great Rum, what more could you ask for!"

While on our cruise, we stopped in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We did the rum tasting dinner with Debbie Ramos at the Triana resturant. I always thought rum was rum, but I learned so much more! Also what I liked and didn't like because the tastings were really helpful. The food was also cooked with rum, it was delicious! Debbie says they are always changing up their choices and resturants, so I would definitely do this again and again! Debbie shared so much, not only about rum, but also PR food and culture! "Spirits of San Juan Tour Great Food and Rum Tastings!"

Second time I booked this tour with Debbie Ramos, first time with hubby and this time with my sister. This is a must do tour. Our cruise ship was docked from 2p till 10p in old San Juan. Dinner is held at a local restaurant, places vary, easily walkable from the cruise port. Authentic Puerto Rican dishes are served family style with rum tastings and making your own cocktails. Debbie also does a great walking tour of old San Juan which we have taken.

This is the second time I did this tour, first time for my sister. Food was a little different and delicious, cocktails were different or presented differently so it was new and interesting once again. This is a must do in San Juan with Debbie. "great rum tasting/dinner"

Debbie did a great job with this rum tasting and dinner. We learned not only how to taste rum, but also a lot of interesting stuff about PR in general. The food, which was flavored with rum too, was fantastic. We had to go shopping afterwards so we can try some of this at home. "A great overview of Old San Juan"

Five of us went on this walking tour with Noemi, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. We met her outside the Sheraton Casino and proceeded to walk through many areas of Old San Juan. She told us the legends of various attractions, and then told us what parts were merely myth. She has lived in the USA, and her English is impeccable. We were taken to places that we might not have thought to visit, and certainly saw a lot in the 2 to 2 1/2 hours she spent with us. We gained enough knowledge of the layout of the area to explore further, and even found a great spot for Sunday lunch. January 30, 2011 - Legends of San Juan tour

The tour guide (Noemi) actually gave us a little extra time talking to us at the final destination (the cathedral). She was very pleasant, and hearing about the legends was fun. Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour, Noemi was very well informed, made direct eye contact with each of us frequently when telling her tale which made you feel important. Noemi was very pleasant and personable and very entertaining outside of telling the history. The street festival was on at that time, and Noemi made sure we felt comfortable being in the midst of the festival participants. Noemi did not rush us, as we stopped periodically to take in the sights of the festivities. The history of San Juan is very unique and interesting and we are very happy that we took advantage of this tour and have already recommended to those heading out to San Juan. This was an excellent tour, and Debbie was fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed getting into some of the areas that are not usually open to the public. "Best times in Puerto Rico...”

My husband, parents, and I made a trip to Puerto Rico in June 2010 and spent several days with Debbie Molina Ramos from Legends of Puerto Rico touring the various sites, enjoying exquisite cultural cuisines, and learning about the history of this beautiful island.

The "Spirits of Old San Juan" was a fun evening as Debbie guided us on how to "taste" rum and paired it with some tasty Puerto Rican foods. Our tours of Old San Juan, Ponce, El Yunque Rainforest, and San Juan were highly informative and very entertaining. Debbie is very personable and has a great sense of humor, zest for life and wants to share all she can about her home with her tourists.

We would HIGHLY recommend Debbie and Legends of Puerto Rico to anyone traveling to Puerto Rico as it made our trip so much more meaningful and enjoyable.

"Very Informative and interesting tour"

My family contacted Debbie to inquire about joining the Night Tour on the same day; we were very pleased she was able to accommodate our family in joining the tour group. The meeting point was easy to find and Debbie warmly welcomed us and other tourists with friendly and engaging comments. The large group was split into two smaller groups. Our guide was very knowledgable and provided a nice tour through the city. She shared historical facts and dispelled common myths, however, our general assessment is that we would have liked a little more historical detail and more engaging commentary. "Must Do Tour"

My Family did Two tours with Debbie Legends of San Juan and Christmas Puerto Rico Style. They were both GREAT! The Tours where entertaining and filled with knowledge but most of all Debbie made use feel like family. We got to experience Puerto Rico like few others have, Doing a tour with Legends of Puerto Rico is a MUST for all coming to this enchanted island. "Great Tours with Debbie"

We did two tours with Debbie, Thanksgiving in Guavate and the Tour of Old San Juan. Debbie was on time to pick us up for the Thanksgiving tour, and met us in old San Juan on time, We were a little late getting to Old San due to traffic and we found Debbie waiting for us. She actually jumped in our car with us to help us find a parking space!
During the thanksgiving lunch she gave our 5 year old daughter dancing lessons to the live music in Guavate, my daughter still giggles with excitement when she sees the videos we took. Debbie was very helpful with us while ordering our awesome meal and walking around the town while translating for us with the shop clerks.

In Old San Juan Debbie was very patient with us, as some thing held our family's attention more then others, she took the time to make sure we completely understood the history of many of the city's attractions as well as some fun facts like Johnny Depp filmed part of his next Hunter S Thompson movie on a particular street! She pointed out several local restaurants for us, and took us into one for a quick coffee break for us and the kids had some neat local snacks.

Over all our experince with Debbie fantastic, she was a lot of help with other tours we were interested in, by providing contact information to the tour owners, as well as reccomending things to avoid and things to see. When we go back to PR we will be contacting Debbie and Legends of Puerto Rico! - McMurray, PA - Nov 25 & 28, 2010

We had a party of six with one member who has some mobility challenges. The tour encompassed a ferry ride across the bay, a stop for coffee, a visit to the Capitol, a tour of the San Cristobal Fort (this one proved a little too much for our mobility-affected member), a drive around Old San Juan with one stop for photographs and a drop off near a good place for lunch. This was excellent and enjoyed by the entire group with people ranging in age from 10 to 73 years old. This was better than the tours that some of our cruise ship people had taken through the cruise lines at a fraction of the cost. The fact that we were also a smaller group allowed Debbie to personalize the tour to fit our needs. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a taste and view of this magnificent city.
